Question:

Does the sound bother dogs. I have mice in my basement and am thinking about one of these. But I have indoor dogs and don’t want to drive them crazier than they already are

Hey, Doug.

It is very possible that your dogs will react to the frequency that the MouseBlocker PROx part # MB34FR. Dogs car hear 40 kHz to 60 kHz, the MouseBlocker PROx uses an intermittent pattern between 25 - 45 kHz. The behavers can range from just avoiding the area, in your case the basement, to showing signs of stress. Some dogs may not show any signs at all and be completely fine.

If you do decide to give this a try, the techs over at MouseBlocker do recommend that you set up traps when you first plug this in. It will shake the mice out and they will panic run to the food in the traps. If traps aren't used the mice could just relocate to another part of the house where the MouseBlocker isn't at. They are familiar with your space so will try to do anything to stay there. After a few days of not seeing any mice in the traps, it's safe to say that you have successfully evicted them.

How often are you seeing mice in your basement right now?

I put 3 of these in my 45’ motorhome; 1 at each end of the interior spaces and 1 in the main cargo basement area. I only use them when the coach is in storage. I will not use them when traveling as I travel with 2 dogs. My coach is parked on a pad in the woods. The devices appear to be doing an excellent job.

@ScottS That's awesome to hear Scott! Keeps the mice away and the doggos happy. How often are you traveling in your RV?

@GwendolynY Hi. I travel about 4 times a year, historically. Effective July 31, 2026 we will become full time nomads until we find a location that tickles our fancy.

@ScottS Let the countdown begin! Love the idea of being able to get up and go and discover a new area.

Works great in our trailer, no mice since we placed 2 units inside during storage. Both me and my wife can slightly hear the high pitched sound. So we will not use the device while traveling on vacation as it would be irritating to our cat las his hearing is more sensitive than ours and the high pitched sound is irritating. Thus I would say it will be irritating to the dogs.

@Er Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the MouceBlocker! It's good to know that you can hear it, kinda. We were wondering how often someone could hear it since everyone is different but it helpful when people share when they can so we can make sure others are aware.
