Question:

Hi would this carrier Hull-a-port Aero fit on the swing in place factory installed crossbars on a 2024 Subaru Outback xt 2.4 l touring model? I would be buying two sets for two kayaks each since I don’t want to stack them. Thanks for any info!

Hey Nell! Those crossbars don't have a top channel so the Thule Hull-A-Port # TH849000-97 won't fit. This only works with square bars or crossbars with T-slots.

If you want a similar style, and want to use two carriers, the Kuat Class 4 V2 Kayak Roof Rack # KU33VR is a good option. This clamps onto crossbars up to 4-1/4" wide and fits a crossbar spread of at least 24".

What kind of kayaks are you putting on your Outback?

Hi Robin, Thank you so much for that information! The kayaks are a Pungo Wilderness 120 (length 12’ 2” x width 29” weight 49 lbs) and a Hurricane Expedition that is 14” long x 26” wide and weighing 48lbs. Could the Outback carry these on two sets of the Küat Class 4 j-bars? I have been researching the Küat Class 4 carriers and coming to the conclusion they would be a good solution if they fit. I like the Küat design for ease of use, and while the Class 4 is priced similarly to the Thule Hull-a-Port XT, it seems the Küat includes the locks, which the Thule doesn’t.

@Nell yeah the Kuat Class 4 V2 looks really nice and they're also super sleek when folded. I don't have the dimensions on those factory bars so it would be best to measure and make sure they'll fit. They are 16-1/4" long x 5" wide x 4" tall when folded and 20-9/16" long x 5" wide x 17" tall deployed. I'm also not sure how those crossbars sit when you pull them out. If they're sitting up high enough to be flush with the rails they store on you'll have more space since the ends of the carriers can hang over the sides. The feet themselves are only 6-3/8" apart on center so you definitely don't need to match the full length of the carrier to fit them. Also, I failed to add them in the original answer but they're available in black # KU53VR if you don't like the look of the gray # KU33VR.
