Hey Danny, yes a 2012 GMC Terrain can be flat towed as long as it's FWD and not AWD. Which do you have? The Correct Blue Ox base plate kit would be the part # BX1689.

I tow a 2015 Chevy Equinox with no problems. The Blue Ox baseplate is nearly invisible once installed. The removable arms are quite easy to insert - twist - lock and are secure. I have over 20k miles of flat tow experience with this setup and it’s secure, safe, and reliable. My wife and I have the process down to less than 10 minutes hookup or detaching. It’s really a breeze.
