Hello George, thanks for reaching out. The Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch # DL25215 is a great choice for a 25-foot boat weighing around 6,000 lbs. It is rated for boats up to 9,000 lbs, so your setup is well within its capacity. The winch features a weather-resistant housing and a stainless steel front plate, making it well suited for marine environments and regular exposure to moisture.

It also includes a 20-foot long, 2-inch wide strap, which works well for boat trailer applications. As long as the winch is mounted securely and wired properly, this unit will provide reliable loading and unloading for your boat.

What kind of boat do you have?

George, This my second Dutton-Lainson boat winch. Both have served me well, as my usage is in salt water with a roller trailer. I do not bury the trailer in the salt water, so the winch pulls my boat about 18'. My boat weighs about 3800 lbs.(+/-) The boat is 20' Glasply. Didn't care for the strap, would fold up and would fall in the water and get wet. (too flimsy). I put a 1/4" cable on, works much better. E-Trailer is an excellent company to deal with. Tom

Hello I had a 26' boat weighing about 7700lb. This winch had no issues what so ever. This thing is strong. A+++ in my book. I wired a Anderson plug to truck with a breaker under the hood. I think I went with a 70 amp. I choses not to have a battery mounted on trailer.
