Can Meyer HomePlow Residential Electric Snowplow ME28FR Work On 2009 Dodge Durango?

Updated 01/28/2026 | Published 01/05/2026

Question:

I have a 2009 Dodge Durango. Im aware that I will need to purchase the $500 mounting kit for the Class-3 receiver hitch to mount under the front of the vehicle to mount the plow assembly. How do I figure out which hitch I will need to order? Is it a straight receiver, a 2 inch hitch or a 4 inch hitch? I would like to order the mounting kit and receiver first and once I have them installed I will order the hitch assembly. Thanks for your help.

Hello Tom, thanks for reaching out. The Meyer HomePlow Residential Electric Snowplow # ME28FR you were looking at mounts to a standard 2" hitch receiver. Unfortunately, there is no custom fit front hitch for a 2009 Durango, so unless you can have someone fabricate a front hitch for you, the only way to use a hitch mounted plow would be in the 2" hitch on the rear of the vehicle.

Hey Tom, were you able to find a way to mount the Meyer HomePlow on your Durango? Knowing what solution worked could help others trying to use a plow with a similar setup.

@JesseM I'm going to have a trailer sales& Service shop I found fabricate and install a custom receiver hitch under the Durango for me. They said I would be looking at expect to be somewhere in the $500 to $1,000 range out the door. I was supposed to have the vehicle up on their hoist last week but the weather kept me from making the trip. The hitch they were talking about making would be totally welded together by them and they have the long sections of the 2" receiver stock at their shop to use. Once I get the hitch installed, I may opt for a hydraulic plow instead of an electric one.

@TomV Ok nice yea getting a hitch fabricated is the way to go. That price doesn't sound too unreasonable either. We are in Missouri and got maybe 10"12" of snow on Saturday night so I definitely understand not making that trip. Let me know how it goes! Or feel free to reach out if there is ever anything else you need!
