Replacement Double Eye Spring on a 2014 Keystone Passport Ultra Lite Elite

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 01/04/2026

Question:

I have a 2014 Keystone Passport Ultralite with 3000 lb axles. The springs have an eye spread of 26 and a 1 3/4 inch width. I havent been to find any that will fit the 3000 lb axle. Would it be possible to install springs for a heavier axle with the same leaf dimensions. rw

Hey, Robert.

Technically yes, you can install heavier springs on your trailer, however your trailer will never be heavy enough to flex spring part # e22YR. Using springs this heavy will cause for a very rough ride.

When you measured your springs, was there any sort of weight, including the trailer itself, on the springs? If so, your springs could be flexed some and you're not getting the true length of the springs. Ideally you want to jack up one side and let the axle and springs hang to get the spring length. On average your springs will flex around 1" with the dry weight of the trailer.

With that in mind, you're better off using Dexter double eye spring part # DX83CR. These springs are 25-1/4" long and rated for 3k axles.

Are these the original springs on the trailer that you're needing to replce?

Hey Robert, how did things go with the Dexter double-eye springs for your Keystone Passport? Were you able to get the right fit once you rechecked the spring length with the axle hanging? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on similar 3,000 lb axles.
