Question:
I’m hauling a heavy zero-turn mower on my 5x10 trailer. The mower is about 1,100 lbs. Should I go with the flat hooks or double-J hooks for something like that?

Rob, for a zero-turn that size, either style will work, so it really comes down to your anchor points. Do you know what style your trailer has?
If your 5x10 has stake pockets or a solid top rail, the flat-hook kit # e72SV is the cleanest connection and gives you the extra strength margin with its 3,333-lb working load limit per strap. If your trailer mainly has D-rings or welded loops, the double-J kit # e42SV seats better and won’t twist the webbing.
The mower itself is well within the capacity of both kits, but matching the hook to the anchor makes tie-downs way easier. Also, if you happen to have the flat rectangular tie-down stake pockets and want to convert to D-Rings, you can add a couple # TL1B which is what I have on my car hauler. I just pull a pin and swap it to different stake pockets when I'm hauling various things.

I haul my zero turn too but only have D-rings. I assume that means I should not get the flat hooks?
