How Accurate is the Tongue Weight Scale Reading on the Trailer Valet Electric Tongue Jack?

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 12/11/2025

Question:

I was wondering if there was an adjustment factor in the weight displayed because the jack is set back about a foot from the actual ball location. I have a scale that I use on my camper and the instructions state there is a difference depending on where my scale is placed be it at the jack or the ball. The actual weight going onto your hitch will be more if measured at the jack location. Thanks

Hey Ron. I understand what you're saying but it's not something that's explicitly stated on the Trailer Valet Electric Tongue Jack item # TV95FR. On their website it's mentioned that the tongue weight readings provided by the built-in scale are intended as an estimate and may reflect a weight range rather than an exact pound-for-pound measurement.

The Trailer Valet Electric Tongue Jack with Digital Tongue Weight Scale item # TV95FR has a 3,500 lbs capacity and a total lift of 18". It'll fit a standard a-frame mounting pattern and has the nice feature of reading your trailer's tongue weight.

What kind of trailer do you have?

I have a 30' camper and I shoot for a tongue weight in between 750 and 800 lbs. Looks like this model of scale would be a lot easier to read than my analog one.

@Ron I completely agree! The Trailer Valet Electric Tongue Jack item # TV95FR is going to work great with a 750 and 800 lbs tongue weight range.
