Will The Blue Ox Base Plate BLU44FR Fit A 2017 Ford Fusion S Hybrid?

Updated 12/17/2025 | Published 12/05/2025

Question:

Im very confused about the correct towbar baseplate for my 2017 ford fusion, VIN 3FA6P0UU0HR262637. Your website says the blu44fr is a fit for: Energi Hybrid Hybrid - excluding Energi SE and Titanium, excluding Hybrid - with Active Cruise Control The Blue Ox website doesnt list the blu44fr and says the blu2684 is a fit for: Blue Ox BX2684 Baseplate fits 2017-2020 Ford Fusion SE and Titanium Includes Hybrid, Shutters and ACC. My vin above translates to a Ford Fusion S Hybrid. It is a hybrid, it is not the Energi or the SE or the Titanium, it does not have the shutters, it is not a sport, and it does not have the ACC. Please assist with the correct blue ox part number for my vehicle.

Hi Stephen!

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BLU44FR is actually the same as the BX2684. We just changed the part number as it was similar to another part number we carry.

As to the fit on your 2017 Ford Fusion S Hybrid, you are good to go. The way it is listed is confusing, but it actually fits all those versions. Not all of the base plates we carry do though, so that's why there are contradictory breakouts.

Do you have the rest of the parts needed to get your Fusion set up for flat towing?

Yes, I have the parts as this is replacing the previous blue ox baseplate (part number unknown) that was damaged when the Demco towbar failed with a collapsed arm while driving. Thanks.

@StephenJ Holy cow! Sorry that happened! Hopefully not too much damage was done. I just noticed your email address, are you from California originally? I left San Diego in 2015 to come out here to Missouri. I couldn't believe how much less expensive everything was! Plus having actual seasons is nice.

@LazerS Yes, demco hitch became a pretzel. Luckily speed was low and I noticed it soon after collapse. Yes, wife is native Californian. I moved there and left in '97. Too crowded and too expensive. Only redeeming value was weather - wash car in driveway in morning, then take off for ski slopes in afternoon!

@Stephen Well dang. We don't hear this happening very often and I'm glad it didn't turn out worse. Small miracles I guess. And it was cool being able to do that. When I was a kid, we were coming home from Big Bear and none of us really felt like going home, so we went to the beach instead! Was awesome. ^___^ Be safe out there and let me know if there is anything else I can help with!
