Availability of Hand Crank Winch With Strap for 9,000 lb Boat

Question:

We have a 28 foot boat. It weighs about 9,000lbs. We need a new winch. Hand crank with strap instead of cable. What size is recommended?

Hi Rob; the only winch we have with a strap that can handle your 9,000 lb boat is going to be the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch # DL25215. None of our manual winches with a hand crank will be able to handle that boat so electric would be the only option.

This electric winch shows 3000lbs. Is there a rule of thumb at 30% of the boat weight for the winch and strap?

@RobF it is rated for a 9,000 lb boat, I should have called it out better but you can see it further down on the product page. There is also a chart for determining the rolling load capacity.
