Question:
We just bought a 5th wheel with a Curt Helux pinbox. Would a 5th wheel tripod be of any use given the shock absorption of the hitch?

Hey Rob, congrats on the new 5th wheel trailer! A Curt Helux Pinbox like item # C85MJ is going to have no affect on the Ultra-Fab 5th Wheel King Pin Tripod Stabilizer item # UF19-950200 you were looking at. The shock absorption feature is to take out road shock. It's not going to have any impact when you're parked at your site or storing your 5th wheel trailer.
You're most likely going to need a higher capacity one though. The item # UF19-950200 you were looking at tops out at 1,200 lbs of tongue weight. I recommend the Ultra-Fab 5th Wheel King Pin Tripod Stabilizer item # UF19-950001. This works with 5th wheel trailers that have up to 5,000 lbs of tongue weight.
What new 5th wheel trailer did you get?

Hi Jerred, thanks for the insight. We bought a Brinkley Z 2670 with a hitch / tongue weight of 1891 lbs. It seems there are a lot of opinions as to whether a tripod is really helpful when parked, but we've had two seasoned 5th wheel owners tell is they found them useful in reducing motion in the front end.
