Yes, that is correct Ray. The etrailer Hitch item # e66AR does require drilling for installation on your 1997 Lincoln Town Car. This is common amongst all the hitches we have for your car. Predrilled holes for mounting a hitch weren't added when your Town Car was manufactured.
The etrailer Hitch item # e66AR is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 4,000 lbs towing capacity and a 400 lbs maximum tongue weight.
What do you plan on using your new hitch for?

Hey Ray, how did the drilling go when you mounted the hitch on your Town Car? Sharing what worked could help others adding a hitch to the same vehicle.
