Is There A Transition Plate For Car Hauler Ramp That Has 2" Tall Lip At The End Of Ramp?

Updated 11/26/2025 | Published 11/19/2025

Question:

Will this fit on a car hauler ramp? My trailer is open, not enclosed, and has a 2-inch lip at the fold.

Yep, that’ll still work fine, Joe. Both the Steel # M368FR and the Aluminum # M348FR transition plates are bolt-on and can go on an open trailer - just use through-bolts since you’re mounting into steel. It’ll smooth out that 2-inch lip perfectly and keep smaller tires or casters from hanging up.

What kind of car are you loading? That’ll help confirm if you need the steel one for the extra weight.

It’s a 20-foot open hauler, and I load a 3,200-lb Camaro a few times a year.

@Joe Nice! In that case, I’d stick with the steel # M368FR for the extra rigidity. That 3/16" thickness won’t bend under a Camaro, and the hinge design keeps it tight against the ramp edge so it won’t rattle on the road. The aluminum would technically work fine too, nothing wrong with it at all. I just feel like the steel would give a little more peace of mind since it's a stronger material.
