Does The Thule Epos 3 Bike Rack With Lights Fold Up Like The EasyFold XT ?

Question:

Does this new lighted Epos fold up against the car when not carrying bikes like the EasyFold XT does?

Pretty much, Steve. The Epos bike rack from Thule # TH34FR44SR folds inward from both sides just like the EasyFold XT # TH903202, so the trays close together into a compact “suitcase-style” shape. The difference is that the Epos isn’t meant to be driven in that folded position. Thule designed it to stay in the flat, road-ready position when mounted on your vehicle so the built-in LED lights and license plate bracket remain visible and legal while driving.

For storage though, it folds up beautifully. You can roll it on its built-in wheels, stand it upright in the garage, or slide it into the padded Thule storage bag # TH56XE to protect the lights and finish while in the garage during the off-season.

What type of bikes do you ride, Steve?

Thanks, Andrew. So if I leave the rack on for a few days between rides, I should just keep it in the down position, right?

@Steve Exactly, Steve. Keep it in the down, road-ready position whenever it’s on the vehicle - that way your LED lights and plate stay visible like Thule intended. The folded-up “suitcase” position is only for storage off the car.
