Does Dometic Furnace for RV Vent Combustion and Exhaust Air to Outside of RV
Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/25/2025 >
Question:
I would be using this unit in essentially a small shed so nothing on wheels. Does the unit take its combustion air from the outside as well as exhausting? It’s flu gases? The wall that the pipe would need to go through is approximately 8 inches thick so can the intake/exhaust be extended from what would be just a thin wall on an RV?

Hey Jim, yes to both of your questions. The Dometic furnaces like the part # DMC64RR that you referenced draws in air from the outside for combustion as well as it vents air to the outside as well. And also yes this venting could be extended through a thicker wall but you would have to come up with the best way to do that since this normally vents through a thinner RV door.

Hey Jim, how did things go extending the venting for your Dometic furnace through that thicker shed wall? Your results could really help others looking to adapt one of these units for a similar setup.
