Can Meyer Snow Plow Work On Gravel Road Or Will It Dig Into The Gravel Ground And Hurt It?

Question:

We’ve got a gravel lane - do these plows just dig in, or can they be set up to float? looking at plow ME28FR

Good thinking, Carol. Meyer HomePlows accept snow shoes that lift the blade about an inch, letting it float on gravel without gouging in. For the Meyer HomePlow Residential Electric Snowplow - For 2" Hitches # ME28FR, you're looking at Skid Shoe Kit # ME94FR.

Now that you found the correct snow plow, the FitGuide on our site will show the correct receiver kit for your vehicle if you don't have a front mount hitch yet. What kind of vehicle are you mounting it on - a truck or UTV?

I’m mounting it on a 2015 Tacoma. will those snow shoes stop me from getting all the way down to the pavement?

@Carol Carol, they’ll keep the blade just slightly above ground - about a half-inch to an inch depending on how you stack the spacers. That way, you won’t dig into gravel, but on paved sections you can raise the shoes higher or remove a washer or two for a cleaner scrape.

Do you think it’s worth swapping to the rubber edge for gravel too?

@AllenG Definitely a good combo, Allen. The rubber cutting-edge kit absorbs vibration and helps the snow roll cleanly off the blade without scattering gravel. If you’re mixing paved and unpaved sections, running both the snow shoes and rubber edge gives the smoothest result. Keep in mind, this rubber add-on is only found on Meyer's site at the moment.
