Hey Ross. The Buyers Products 42" x 13-1/2" Gooseneck Hitch Plate with 2-5/16" Ball And Two D-Rings item # 3373014981 is designed to be bolted or welded directly to your truck's frame. You won't need any crossmembers but you'll need a minimum of six 5/8", grade 8 bolts unless you're welding it.
What kind of truck do you have?

Hey Ross, how did things go mounting the gooseneck hitch plate to your truck’s frame? Did bolting or welding it directly give you the support you needed? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on a similar setup.
