Do I Have to Replace the Thermostat When I Replace the Control Board on a GE AC System?

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/10/2025

Question:

I replaced my ge rv air conditioner model GRCS13XHHBH1 and the controller box model RGREC3A2. Will I need to replace the GE thermostat also? I understand the freon has changed also.

Yes, you will Karen. Since you added the GE Appliances RV AC Control Board item # GE27FR you'll need the Single Zone Smart Thermostat for GE Appliances RV ACs item # GE29FR. This is designed to work with the systems that have the new R32 refrigerant.

What of trailer or motorhome do you have?

Hey Karen, did you get the Single Zone Smart Thermostat for your GE RV AC? How did it work with your new control board and the R32 refrigerant? I'm asking because your experience could help others with similar upgrades.
