Do I need an alignment after installing the Safe-T-Plus ST59YR, or can I just center it myself?

Greg, you can center it yourself after install, but an alignment is recommended beforehand if you haven’t had one recently. The Safe-T-Plus # ST59YR mounts to your steering linkage, so any small existing toe or caster issue will affect how straight it tracks.
Once installed, drive it on a straight road and adjust the center point as shown in the instructions. If it still drifts slightly, that’s when an alignment helps fine-tune it perfectly.
Most shops that handle heavy RVs can install and align the system in about an hour and a half. Do you already have a shop that works on your ZF front end?
