Question:

I have a 2008 dodge 3500 6.5ft bed with overload springs. I have a Reece 5th wheel hitch and rails. I dont want to drill my frame, will this kit be what I need?

Hey Ethan,

The Curt brackets would not be the ones you need. Since you have Reese 5th wheel rails, the brackets you use to attach to the vehicle need to be Reese as well. The brackets I found for your vehicle with the overload springs was the Reese kit # RP58186. This will require some drilling into the frame. I did not find a kit from Reese that was no drill.

You could use the Curt kit like you mentioned, # C16420, you would just need to also get new rails like # C16104. The brackets and rails need to be the same manufacturer, that Reese hitch will fit on the Curt rails if you decide to go that route.

What are you going to be towing?

@Ethan The rails are industry standard, the brackets that connect the rails to the vehicle are not. Those are manufacturer specific. That is why you couldn't use the Curt brackets with the Reese rails, they will have no way of attaching together. That is with every brand 5th wheel rails.
