Will Ignik Dual Propane Adapter Fitting Leak Propane When Swapping Applicances?

Question:
I have a camping trailer with twin propane tanks and an automatic switchover regulator Marshall Excelsior. While one tank is supplying the trailer, I would like to connect the second tank to my Coleman stove so I can use it to cook outside. I was thinking I could disconnect the second tank from the regulator and connect it to my stove, however the regulator manufacturer advised against it. Could I use the GN48FR to connect both to the regulator and the supply line to my stove? Is there any problem with this device if one of the two output connectors is left unconnected i.e is there something inside that prevents gas flow if no connection is made? Are there any other options I should consider? I already have all the necessary hoses to connect my stove to a standard propane tank.

Hey Duane!
The Ignik Dual Propane Adapter Fitting # GN48FR will not continuously leak out propane if you were to disconnect one hose from the "Y" fitting. I will say that unless you close the valve you'll probably let out some propane when you disconnect the hose for your stove, so I recommend closing the valve first.
We have some other adapter fittings that offer additional connections, but it doesn't sound like that's what you're needing.
How often do you cook outside?

Hi Jon, Thanks for your response. I am aware of the other adapter fittings that you carry but I already have the necessary hoses to connect to a Type 1 propane fitting. In my earlier pop-up camper we cooked outside all the time. Now it is just my wife and I and we have a hard- sided travel trailer. While we do most of the cooking inside, sometimes it would be preferred to cook some things outside. Since I already have a two-burner Coleman stove, it would be nice to be able to use it outside when needed. Our trailer does have an external quick-connect propane port, however it is already regulated from the onboard tanks. Since the stove also has a built-in regulator I can't use that port connection. Since I have 2 tanks on my trailer, and one is the reserve, I would like to connect to the reserve tank to run the stove. I really don't want to have to carry a third tank for the stove. Duane C.
