Troubleshooting Power to Fan-Tastic Fan Lift Arm and Replacement 18' Awning Fabric
Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 09/13/2025 >
Question:
I replaced my lift motor on my fantastic fan about a year ago. It has worked great even though it is much slower due to the lower rpm’s than the original one. The problem I am having now is the lift motor will attempt to lift and then immediately stop. It will do this even while just hanging by the wires with zero load. I can connect the wires to a 12 volt power source and it works fine. After I connect it to the battery charger directly and then reinstall it, it works fine for several dozen cycles of lifting and lowering the lid before returning to the same failure. Could this be the control board? And if so, why intermittently? Second question, is there a heavy solid black, inside and out, fabric for solara 18 ft awning? Thanks!

Hey John!
What I would check if I were in your shoes is the power wires and power supply on your RV. Since your fan lift motor is working fine when connected to other power, it seems like the issue is on your RV side of things.
Let me know if you find anything on your RV side of things, or even if you're still stuck after looking at the wiring.
For your 18' awning, we have the Replacement Solid Black Fabric # LC86TF which comes with a weather strip and an LED strip. Does this look like it will work?

Power source on RV side is consistent and all working fine. I am using a Powermax three stage converter. I really wish you could still buy the lower rpm lift motor that originally came on the Fantastic vent. Seems like the quality has gone down since The sale. I bought two on EBay and all has been well since. Thanks for the response and the information on the awning.
