Question:
How secure is the ICON # AL63DQ compared to something like the Master Lock 379DAT?

Derek, great question. The Master Lock # 379DAT works fine as a deterrent, but it can be defeated with basic tools. The ICON # AL63DQ takes it several steps further: it’s cast from a single block of hardened steel that’s as tough as any saw or drill bit, and it has an anti-drill lock face that just spins if you try to bore it out. In real tests, it shrugs off sawzalls, sledgehammers, and 5 inch angle grinders.
This ICON lock is for couplers with a rather large, flat lip on the coupler. If you don't have that, you'd instead have a cast style (see image), you can go with # AL38DQ.
Have you had theft concerns before, or are you just being proactive?
