Which BrandMotion Parking Sensor Kit Is Best For Pickup Truck And Towing Trailer Every Week?

Updated 08/14/2025 | Published 08/13/2025

Question:

I drive a pickup daily and tow a work trailer twice a week. Would the BM28YR or BM39FR be better for switching between personal and work use? Which one has tow mode when backup up with trailer every week?

Mike, the Brandmotion # BM28YR passenger vehicle parking sensor kit does include an on/off switch, but it only controls the front sensors. The rear sensors will still activate anytime you shift into reverse, just like the # BM39FR commercial kit.

If you’re backing a trailer and want the rear sensors silent, you’d need to add a small toggle switch to the reverse power lead going into the ECU. That way, you can leave the front sensors available when you want them but cut rear alerts for reversing when trailer is hooked up.

The # BM39FR, on the other hand, doesn’t include any switch from the factory, so you’d have to add one just like I mentioned above for the rear sensors of the passenger kit. The # BM39FR is built for heavier-duty, long-vehicles and has extra range, but it’s more of a “set it and forget it” system once installed.

If you’d like, I can draw you a quick wiring diagram showing exactly where to add the rear kill switch on these models so you can flip between personal and trailer use. Would you like me to send that over?
