How To Wire BrandMotion Parking Sensors To Come On When Parking Or Entering Garage

Question:
I’ve got a 2019 Subaru Outback and want these for the front bumper so I can pull in close to my garage wall without guessing. Can I wire them to come on automatically?

Carl, for the front bumper, these sensors are designed to run off accessory power with the included on/off switch. Most folks wire them so the switch is mounted within easy reach of the driver. That way, you can tap the button as you creep into your garage, then turn them off for normal driving so they’re not chirping at stoplights. If you wanted them to come on automatically, that would be very difficult without a custom wiring that only gets power at low speeds, so I think the toggle switch method is better.
Do you have an idea where you’d like that switch mounted? That’s the biggest factor for convenience.
The rear bumper sensors get wired to your reverse light circuit so that they turn on automatically when reversing/parking.
I've attached images that show the wiring diagrams for the BrandMotion Parking Sensor Kit front/rear # BM28YR.

Thanks, Andrew. If I wire the front sensors to a switch, will they drain the battery if I forget to turn them off?
