Looking For Hanging Style Bike Rack With Longer Arms For Four Bikes

Updated 08/13/2025 | Published 08/01/2025

Question:

Are there hanging carrier with longer forks to make loading easier? I find it increasingly difficult to load 4 full size24inch and 26, basic, mountain bikes. I have had this carrier for about 15 years now and am extremely satisfied with it. I need a replacement due to wear. I measure the forks to be about 22inch long.

Hello Todd, thanks for reaching out. If you are wanting something with longer forks or "arms" as we call them, we do have a few options that will be longer than the 22" arms on your Rola rack.

First, we have the Saris Glide EX # SA774. This can hold four bikes and the arms are 25-1/2" long.

Second we have the Thule Apex XT # TH9025XT. This has 28" long arms and will be the longest option we offer. That will give you quite a bit more clearance between the bikes making them easier to load. The rack can be tilted away from the vehicle for rear hatch access. It also folds up for storage. It has a built in bike lock and hitch lock. It will be similar enough to your Rola rack and I think you would definitely be satisfied with this as a replacement or even, dare I say, an upgrade. Thule racks have a lifetime warranty too.

How often do you get out and bike? It has been so hot here in Missouri recently its been hard to justify leaving the air conditioning haha

Thanks for this recommendation. I also saw the Thule Camber on the site that appears to have the same bike-to-bike spacing(7") as described in the videos. Are the primary differences between that and this Apex XT, the tool-free installation and the lock? Same heat and humidity in MI. I'm definitely not getting out on longer rides outside the neighborhood as I'd like.

@Todd Hey Todd. The Thule Camber # TH9056 does have a good amount of space between the bikes but it does use a standard hitch bolt. So not tool-free. The Apex would be a tool free installation. The Apex will definitely be more user friendly but it does cost a bit more. Also, the Camber does not include any locks. The Apex has hitch lock and bike lock.
