Jonah, the Napier SUV awning # NA99FR extends about 2 feet past the trunk gate, and then about a foot or so past each side of the SUV, so it’ll shade most standard picnic tables, especially lengthwise.
If you want broader shelter, you might look at tent-style shades like the Kelty Waypoint Car Awning - 11' Long x 13' 9" Wide # KE53TR. But for most SUVs and day trips when you want to sleep in the back, this Napier awning # NA99FR really shines.
