Would you recommend this hitch and the custom rail kit RP50066-58 for a 2014 GMC Denali short bed 2500? If not, what would you recommend? Thanks...

Absolutely, the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR that you referenced would be an excellent choice for a slider hitch.
The Reese rail kit part # RP50066-58 that you referenced would also be an excellent choice for a rail kit. This is a custom install kit that will install in about half the time as a universal kit and will minimize drilling.
