Can I Make a Drawer Without Using Trim Kit for Rail Kit for Kwikee SuperSlide II RV Cargo Slide Tray

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/20/2025

Question:

Hello, it does not appear that you need a trim kit, if you dont mind making the ends of wood and attaching to the plywood like one of the customer pictures, is that correct? So, on the 800 lb. slide how tall are the sides from where you attach the plywood to the top edged? It looks to be about 4 or 5 inches. thanks

Hello David,

Correct, you don’t have to use the trim kit with the Lippert # LC370783 Quickee Super Slide 2. It’s optional and mainly there to give the tray a clean, finished look and help keep items from sliding off the edges. If you’re comfortable attaching your own plywood base and even adding wood ends like some customers do, that works just fine. As long as your setup doesn’t interfere with how the tray slides and locks, you’re good to go. I’ve attached an image showing the pieces included with the trim kit # LC370682, using that kit would mean you only need to install the plywood bottom. On the trim kit # LC370682, the front piece is 4 1/2" tall, so if you're building your own frame, you'll want to make your edge pieces about that height for a similar fit and finish.

That said, you’ll want to be mindful of how you install everything. If modifications, like drilling into the wrong spot or using incompatible materials, cause damage or interfere with the tray’s operation, that could potentially affect the warranty. But simply choosing not to use the trim kit won’t void anything on its own. As long as the installation is solid and the tray isn’t overloaded, you should be fully covered.

Hey David, Did you decide to go with the trim kit or build your own frame for the slide tray? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could really help others who are considering a similar setup. Let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with!
