Question:
I have a 2020 forester and the listed tongue weight is 176lb, is that referring to the factory hitch or what the frame can handle? I see the eco hitch has a much higher tongue weight, so which is the correct number?

Hey Alec, this is a great question but basically in any towing setup your overall towing capacities are whatever the lowest rated component is that's in the setup as its what would fail at that point. So your vehicle is only rated for 176 lbs of tongue weight so that would be what you'd need to stay under regardless of what hitch you install. The hitches are designed for the vehicle and then also engineered to be as strong as possible which is why you see them rated a lot higher. Are you planning on using a bike rack like the Kuat Piston Pro # KU32VR?
