Troubleshooting Dead Battery on 2017 Ford Focus After 4-Way Installation

Greetings, I just installed trailer harness pretty straight forward install. However car was parked for 24 hrs and my battery is now completely dead. Any insight on why would be great thanks.

Hi Kevin; sorry to hear the battery died after the installation of the # 118674. This isn't a common occurrence and there are a few things you can check. I would start by testing for power on the 4-way with a circuit tester # PTW2993 while the vehicle is off. If you have constant power on any of the pins on the 4-way while the lights are off on the vehicle it is a bad converter and needs to be swapped out. Assuming it is functioning properly it probably wasn't the wiring harness since that converter draws virtually no power.
The other possibility is the battery ran down during installation. If you have an older battery it may have been drained from the lights being on if you had the doors/trunk open for a long period of time while installing the wiring harness. Once your battery is charged I don't expect it to happen again as long as your 4-way test checks out.
