Solution for Needing Replacement Freeze Sensor for Furrion Chill HE RV AC Unit

Published 07/01/2025

Question:

I installed a Furrion 13500 BTU Chill HE air conditioner in my RV last spring. It was a second A\C on my RV and is wired separately from the rest of the RV since my original camper only has 30 amp wiring. The first summer we used the second A/C it worked great. This summer it has started to freeze up. I have made sure the air is flowing appropriately but during my research I read it could be the freeze sensor. Most A/C have a wire going into a blue clip. I see the blue clip already installed in the fins on my A/C but there is no wire or sensor going to the clip. I have torn the entire control unit apart and there are no extra wires or sensor. Could you tell me if this unit has a sensor? If it does where could I find it. If it does not can you recommend a replacement control unit for this model that has the sensor?

Hey Evan, so we do have a way to get a replacement freeze sensor for your Furrion Chill HE with the part # FR43PR which is an all new controller as the sensor is not available by itself. If you check out the picture I attached you can see what the sensor is supposed to look like with the blue clip. It does sound like yours maybe somehow got dislodged from the blue clip and could possibly be hanging out somewhere in the unit.

The controller I currently have looks like the part FR48TD. From what I can tell it does not have a freeze sensor even though I see the blue clip in the fins. Will the new part you suggested work without a thermostat? I currently do not have a thermostat with this unit. It has knobs located on the air distribution panel. Thanks

@Evan actually the controller you need is the part # FR43PR due to the age of your AC Unit since it was made for use with the older refrigerant. I don't see how yours could have been made without a sensor though so in freak situation yours was sold without one I would try contacting Furrion directly to see if they have a warranty they could help you with if that is the case.
