Does It Matter Which Side of the Crossmember the CE Smith Panel Brackets Install On

Updated 09/08/2025 | Published 06/13/2025

Question:

Installation tips: Which side of the cross member is best front or back, bow side or stern side? And which way is best for the bracket? I suspect that the stern or back side of the cross member along with both brackes facing each other with the holes on the inside. Seems to me that would be the strongest?? Give me your wisdom oh etrailer?

Hey Win, it really doesn't matter from a strength standpoint the orientation you pick for the install of the CE Smith Universal-Fit Split Panel Brackets for Boat Trailers # CE10500G I would recommend picking the orientation that fits the needs of your boat traile the best using your best judgment and you'll do fine young Grasshopper!

Hey Win, did you decide on the orientation for the brackets on your boat trailer? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others with similar setups.
