Can X Track Be Used For Attaching Car To Aluminum Bed Trailer

Updated 09/16/2025 | Published 05/19/2025

Question:

I have an Aluma 14 trailer that I plan on hauling my car on. Its a 1988 MGB and weighs about 2300lbs. What do you recommend using and how do I go about attaching it? Im worried about the possibility of corrosion with the different metals.

Hello Matt, thanks for reaching out. The X Track will actually work great for that. They can be used to secure virtually anything and they are super versatile. They do have a black powder coating and zinc coating which will help protect it from corrosion with the aluminum. I have seen some people put another layer of material between the X Track and the aluminum like a rubber pad or something just for extra protection, so you could come up with something like that if you wish. That is really the only consideration though aside from that the X Track will work great for you.

Hey Matt, did the X Track work out for securing your MGB on the trailer? I'd love to hear your experience, as it could help others looking to haul their cars safely.

@JesseM it worked great! We have found it to be very versatile. It hauled my car from Iowa to Indianapolis for a car show and it was perfect. We've used it to haul quads quite frequently and have even used it to tie down some furniture. It was definitely a great purchase!
