Does 2019 Toyota CH-R Have Towing Capacity for Hauling 414 lb Motorcycle

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 05/04/2025

Question:

Hello. Im doing some research on towing a motorcycle long distance with a 2019 Toyota CH-R. The motorcycle gross weight is 414 lbs, so including the weight of the small trailer, I should be able to tow this, however, Im confused about the maximum tongue weight. It says that the 2019 CHR only has a gross tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs? Im not sure how much the tongue weight of this trailer and motorcycle would be, but I would imagine its heavier than 200 lbs. If it is heavier, does that mean my 2019 Toyota CHR is unable to tow my motorcycle?

Hey Gunil, so most likely you are fine but the long answer is that tongue weight is just the weight that vertically pushes down on the ball mount of your vehicle so it's typically only about 10-15 percent of the total weight of the trailer.

So if your tongue weight capacity is 200 lbs that would mean that the total weight of the trailer you could tow would be around 2,000 lb.

Since your bike only weighs 414 lb that leaves you with around 1,600 lb of trailer weight left over. Do you know about how much your trailer weighs?

The Curt hitch part # C11490 is a confirmed fit for your 2019 Toyota C-HR as well.

Hey Gunil, did you find out how much your trailer weighs? I'm curious to know if the Curt hitch worked out for your towing needs. Your experience could really help others in a similar situation.
