Do Caliber Marine Slides Install Over Bunk Carpet?
Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/24/2025 >
Question:
I’ve got old carpeted bunks that are starting to get gross, and I was originally thinking of replacing the carpet. But can I just slap these slides right over the carpet, or do I need to rip everything off and start fresh with bare wood? Also, are screws included?

Hello Izekiel, thanks for reaching out. The Caliber Marine Slides # CA58AJ are intended to be installed over the bunk carpet. So depending on the current condition of your bunk carpet you may want to replace the carpet before adding the slides. We can provide carpet if you are in need. I would just need to know the size of your bunks. We may even be able to provide a pre-carpeted bunk.
The Caliber Marine Slides # CA58AJ do come with screws for mounting to the bunk boards.

Hey Izekiel, did you decide to replace the carpet before installing the slides, or did you go ahead and put them over the existing carpet? I'm curious to know how it turned out, as it could help others in a similar situation.
