Why Would Ground Wire of Brake Controller Show Voltage with Tester

Updated 04/09/2025 | Published 04/05/2025

Question:

I have a prodigy to break controller and everything seems to work well, but I have voltage on the white wire that’s supposed to go to the ground 11.3 - 11.6 fluctuating.

Hey Joe, that is an interesting problem to have...especially since the controller is still working but what it most likely indicates is that your don't have a good enough ground for the white wire so you should try improving that. I'd also check to make sure the ground wire isn't possibly shorting out to a nearby circuit.

None of my other grounds are getting reads and I m taking a read with the wire disconnected from my ground bus. Can see the wire running from the back of the prodigy to the ground with no shortage

@Joe That is pretty odd but if the controller is working fine I probably wouldn't worry too much about it.
