Is the Edge Diesel Evolution CTS3 Performance Tuner Color Screen the Replacement for My CTS2?

Updated 03/10/2025 | Published 03/04/2025

Question:

I have a 2012 Ram 3500 6.7L diesel. The truck currently has a CTS2 tuner with the 5 position knob. The screen has gone out totally. I would like to replace the set up with a CTS3 p/n EP36YR. Can this be a direct swap out or do I still need to run the manual 5 position knob? The system was on the truck when I bought it about 3 years ago. Thanks

Hello Jon,

Sounds like your CTS2 screen decided it was time for early retirement, bummer! Since your truck has a CTS2 with a 5-position knob, you’ll likely still need the manual switch if your tuning setup relies on a separate switch-on-the-fly (SOTF) system like EFI Live or MM3. The CTS3 # EP36YR is a direct replacement for monitoring and connectivity, but it won’t replace the switch if your tunes require it.

If the CTS2 was just for monitoring and the knob handled tune selection independently, you’ll need to keep it. But if the CTS2 allowed you to switch tunes through the screen, the CTS3 should do the same. The best way to know for sure is to check how your truck’s tuning was set up—if the switch is wired directly to the ECM, you’ll still need it, but if it was just an add-on, you might be able to ditch it.

Please let me know if you were able to retire the knob as well =)

The manual switch is plugged in directly inline with the CTS2 into the data link connector. From the information you gave me, I would assume I will still need the switch knob. Thanks again

@JonathanA Hey Jonathan. My pleasure. Yes, you will still need to keep the switch knob. Please, let me know how the swap goes.
