Will this work on a flatbed with a recessed hitch ball? Whats the footprint of the base?

Hello Taylor, thanks for reaching out. The footprint of the base on the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System # AN87VR is 29-1/2" wide by 31-1/2". I measured one in house and confirmed. Sadly though, this is for a standard gooseneck ball, and will not work with a recessed ball.
For a flatbed with a recessed ball, a better option is the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550046. This is made for a recessed ball and has a 21K capacity. The picture below shows an example of this hitch installed on a flat bed truck.
