Hey Brad, thanks for reaching out!

Curt doesn't list out a specific hole size for the hardware when installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C49CR, and neither do we in the attached installation video of ours so I don't have an exact size to give you.

Generally, when a specific size isn't called out it's because the hole just needs to be slightly enlarged in order to get the hardware in place. I know in our video we end up just cutting a whole bigger hole, but that's not required - Jake just wanted to speed things up a bit.

What are you planning on using the hitch receiver for?

Jon, Your respose to me is incorrect and useless. The Etrailer site lists this Curt hitch as "No drilling needed" yet your video shows DRILLING to be necessay not optional. One can call it cutting the hole bigger but it was done with a Step Drill, which is drilling. At least Etrailer could note the hole size required so the DIY installer could purchase the correct drill bit.

@Brad Hey, I get it, and I wish our video guy would have called it out in the video too, but he unfortunately didn't. Our notes can be confusing sometimes, and in this case we have a few tech tips. The first one states "No drilling required for installation" but then we have a third one that states "Access holes may need to be enlarged by drilling, filing, or rotary tool". The difference in these tips is that the no drilling required means you aren't drilling any brand new holes in your vehicle frame. The access holes may need to be enlarged part means you won't be drilling brand new holes in your frame, just making them a little larger to fit the hardware in for the fish wire step. I may not have been able to give you the answer you were really wanting, but I still stand by it. If our tech hadn't used a tool to cut out a complete bigger hole we would still be at the same conclusion that you'll just need to enlarge it enough to get the hardware in once you're doing the installation. If you'd rather have a shop do the installation for you, we have an installer locator tool that I'm linking to this comment so you can enter in your zip code to see the shops we work with in your area and schedule an installation with them.
