Air Bag Kit Recommendation for 2000 Ford F-250 with Gooseneck Hitch

Published 01/23/2025

Question:

I have a 2000 f250 v19 6.8 2wd short bed with a flip up gooseneck ball the plate extends to the side of frame on drivers and passenger side. I’m not sure what airbags to buy that won’t interfere with bolts on gooseneck hitch on frame please see attached pictures. Thank you!

Hey Kevin, we have the Firestone Ride Rite kit part # F2550 that fits your 2000 Ford F-250 with a gooseneck hitch so this would work great for you. This checks out based on the pictures you sent in as well.

Is your truck sagging quite a bit when towing your gooseneck trailer?

Thank you! Even though the hole that I need looks like it’s covered up? I figured it be right above where the bump stop pad would be? Thanks again

@Kevin Great observation. I am sorry about missing that. I believe what you'd have a better chance of making work is the Air Lift part # AL57390 instead which attaches on the inboard side of the frame rail. Fast forward to the 3:57 mark of the attached install video for this kit and let me know if your gooseneck setup would allow for that. Hopefully you can pull the bolt out for your gooseneck hitch that is there currently and you can run the bracket of the Air Lift kit through it and the gooseneck plate.

@JamesonC I don’t think this will work as I don’t have that same bump stop bracket

@Kevin It's probably best to go a different route altogether then. I would go with a Roadactive kit like the part # RAS3611-HD that fits your truck. This will fit a lot easier, gives you the adjustable support you are wanting and unlike other options improves ride quality and handling loaded and unloaded.
