Question:
Hey there, I just need to know if this part would work for a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer SE with a fore to aft muffler? If not and if you can think of one, can you provide me with an alternative? Ive read that this part may not be compatible with fore to aft mufflers. Im just looking to support a bike rack with a class 2 converter, so no heavy hauling.

Hi Michael; I'm sorry to say that the Curt # C11479 also has the fore to aft muffler restriction. There are no custom fit hitches available that will allow you to carry a bike rack on your 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer. However, it may be possible to have a custom hitch fabricated locally using the # E-9 (2" receiver) or # E-911 (1-1/4" receiver). You will have to reach out to a local fabricator to see if they can make it work.
If not, your only other option is to switch bike racks. You can use a trunk mount bike rack like the Yakima HangOut # Y02638 or you can use a roof mounted bike rack like the HighRoad # Y22DJ. The HighRoad would require the addition of a roof rack like the Inno Aero # IN35VV if you don't already have one.

Hey Michael, were you able to find a good option for carrying your bikes on the Lancer after checking with a local fabricator or switching to one of the Yakima racks? Knowing what worked could help others facing the same muffler restriction.
