Hey John,

The Hardware Kit # 40-120PK you're looking at is for an older Ram pickup, but to get the Westin Sportsman grille guard to mount to your 2016 Ram 1500 you need the Hardware Kit # 40-354PK instead.

Please note that grille guards and their mounting hardware are vehicle specific so if your grille guard wasn't on a 2009 - 2024 Ram 1500 then it won't fit your truck properly when you try to install it.

From your photos it looks like you've just got it propped up right now - did you get it from a marketplace-type online sale or was it given to you by chance?

I did get off marketplace, I know it not set up for a ram but I was getting a visual look too see if I can mount it, it will need some modifications from the brackets to the grille gaurd cause thos one I believe goes to a chevy i am assuming . I really got a deal on it the previous owner wasn't too sure on what make or model it may have came off of. I really need one on my truck, I hit a tree one night coming home( noone ever told me anything about walking trees, darn tree walk right in front of me, can you believe that!) No fir real I had to buy a new bumper, still need another hood and new hinges . But I figured I put a grille gaurd on mu truck then I have better chance if not damaging anything else far as that goes. I even bought front and rear leveling kits so when i do mount this I can level it to it correct Normal height. I'm guessing also would be right to also put some level of kit in the rear for proper height as well cause with that extra weight in the front will offset both rear and front. But I thinking. Maybe it'll be a ni more then a inch or so off, I can fabricate my two steel plates to use for spaces and might have to go to hime depot and get some different bolts. But you guys don't have universal adapter plates that is already made to go from 2016 Ram 1500 truck and mount and brackets to change over to a grille that's for a chevy? You know that would a good idea to make kits that could actually do that be good to have that available, I have talk to many of other truck owbers I have spoke with actually has thos same problem as I do, is be surprised on how many folks has this same issue. It be good to invite such universal bracket plates with bolts. Serious. Any suggestions ypu can give be helpful, I will be sure to order this mount, brackets and bolts kit that you sent me , thanks for the correct one too. This is made for a sportsman westin grille gaurd correc? Cause if I get it for guard I I believe that'll bring me closer to my mounting holes on the grille gaurd, you understand me. Thanks for all the helpful advice that you already provided and for anything more that you can offer would be very appreciative. And Happy New Year to you and your entire family, hope holiday was great, hope you ate as much as I did, I believe I gained 100 more pounds just on the fried turkey alone, good food all together. I ain't ain't addicted to no drug or alcohol, it's good delicious food that got a hook into me for real! Talk at later and again thank you! John Shackelford!

@JohnS My sister hit a walking tree once as well, so I've definitely heard of them! Except hers was walking in the daytime. I've heard that's not as common. My ultimate recommendation would be to get the grille guard that was made for your vehicle, but I totally understand trying to save some money. Since you're willing to do some modifications, I recommend getting the Hardware Kit # 40-354PK that fits your vehicle and then adding your modifications to that. It would be incredible to have kits that adapted the grille guards to different vehicles and their hardware (like you mentioned), but the grille guard companies don't put model numbers on their parts so it would be a complete guessing game on our end - for people like yourself who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty with modifying parts, you're able to mitigate the cost of some custom hardware by doing your own work. If you haven't found a rear suspension kit for your truck, I recommend checking out the SumoSprings # SSR-307-47. I really like this kit because it's a "set it and forget it" type of product. The springs only engage when they're absolutely needed, and they require zero maintenance. I had a great Christmas and New Year's, thanks for asking! I usually try to wear pants that have a little give in the waist, and I typically end up quoting my Uncle Wayne to my wife by saying "I think I hurt myself" after partaking of the foods. She usually rolls her eyes at me, but it makes me chuckle every time.

I have been thinking a lot about installing air bags for suspension, my uncle installed some on his chevy in 5lthe rear and front. Says it gives you more towing capabilities, ypu can pull heavier loads without messing your truck up. I have a 1500 2016 ram bighorn 5.7 hemi 4 wheel drive. So I have a 23 ft camper and at times it's loaded down which I have the stabilizer bars on it so it helps with the weight distribution. Do y'all have the air bags kits for pick up. Usually you have them on 18 wheelers.

@JohnS Glad you asked - we absolutely do! I recommend going with the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57365 which will help with up to 5,000 lbs and fits as long as you don't have an in-bed hitch (like a 5th wheel or gooseneck setup) or the factory air suspension. It's important to note that these suspension enhancements don't increase the weight capacity of your truck - they just help to support your OEM suspension. Something else you might consider installing is a compressor kit like the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System # AL25980 so you can monitor and adjust the air bags on the fly - this will be especially helpful if you plan on using the air bags frequently.

@JohnS More than happy to help out this time as well as any future projects you have! We haven't had the opportunity to install any of the grille guards that fit your 2016 Ram 1500 as of yet, but we do have the instructions for the Westin Sportsman Grille Guard # 40-3545 which I'm linking to this comment for you to reference. Let me know if you have any other questions about this!
