Hey Rich,

The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3200 weighs 143.7lbs and the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # BWRVK2500 weighs 79.11lbs. If you're concerned about the amount of weight on the rear axle we can look into some suspension enhancement to make your trip safer as well.

Happy New Year, Kevin...and, thanks for responding. I'm new to towing - looking at potentially owning a used 5th-wheel. I found the BWRVK3200 & BWRVK 2500 as a close match for my truck through the FAQs/advice. Mine is a 2006 Chevy 2500HD Duramax, Extended Cab/Fleetside (8' bed), SRW (Work Truck). I've just starting crunching numbers for the size camper that'll fit this truck. But I'm scratching my head about backwards compatibility of a new 5th wheel hitch (this one) and older model camper's pin box/pin set-ups. Are these mostly plug-n-play, or would I need to purchase a new pin box/pin set up to fit my hitch? Thanks!

@RichM The connection between the pin box and fifth wheel hitch will be same. It's still going to be a king pin coupling into the jaws of a hitch. The issue with older pin boxes is that they typically are smaller/shorter (less turning radius) and don't have cushioning to improve the ride quality. With you having an 8' bed turning radius isn't an issue so ride quality would be the only thing you might have an issue with. People often do replace pin boxes to get more comfort or a longer pin box and to do so we'll need to determine the bolt pattern if you do end up wanting to replace it. There's typically a white sticker on the pin box that lists a serial number and RPO number that we can use to look up the bolt pattern. If it's gone you'll need to measure for the bolt pattern. I've attached a guide for this below. If you're fine with the pin box as it is then you'll just want to ensure that the truck and hitch have the capacity for the trailer. You'll also need to set the height of your hitch to match the trailer while level. You'll level the trailer and measure from the ground up to the king pin plate and from the ground up to the height of the bed. The difference between these heights is the height your hitch will need to be at. If you can measure these first I would do so to ensure the # BWRVK3200 (Hitch height: 16" - 19") is going to have enough range. It most likely will, but it's nice to doublecheck if possible. I've attached a diagram of this above to help. If you have any other questions just let me know and I'd be happy to help.
