Question:
I have a 1965 Mustang 289. I am having trouble getting a decent battery for it. The new 24F series do not allow for the original hold down at the base of the battery since there is no foot/protrusion/extending base at the bottom of the battery. I see this part works for current 24F batteries, would I need to buy straps as well or some other form of attachment. Again, my Mustang only fastens the battery from the bottom. Thank you for any assistance.

Hello Kent,
First off, 1965 Mustang 289 SWEET RIDE! The Safety Grip Battery Hold-Down - Group 24 and 24F Batteries - 6-7/8" x 10-7/8" # DW06159 is going to be your best option. I see that a lot of our customers have purchased this item for the same reason, not a 1965 Mustang, but other classic vehicles. To be able to strap it down you could pair it with # 37217544.

Hey Kent, how did the Safety Grip battery hold-down work out on your Mustang? Did the strap setup keep the 24F battery secure the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others working on older cars with the same issue.
