Can Firestone Air Bag Kit from a 2005 Excursion Fit a 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/03/2024 >
Question:
I bought the Firestone air bag kit for my 2005 Ford Excursion a few years back. I have removed the airbags from the Excursion and plan to install them on my 2016 Ford F250. What upper and lower mounts do I need to purchase for the swap as well as additional mounting hardware? I have attached photos of the brackets that I think are required. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hey John,
All of the parts, including the air bags, are different between your 2005 Ford Excursion and your 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty, so you'll need to get a whole new kit for your F-250.
For your application I recommend picking up the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2597 because it has the same 5,000 lb weight rating as your old system - so it's essentially the same thing, just with updated parts that are designed for your truck.
Attached is an installation video of this kit on a 2015 Super Duty that you can follow along if you plan on installing this yourself.

Hey John, how did things go with the Firestone Ride-Rite air springs on your F-250? Did the new kit fit and perform the way you expected? Your update could make it easier for others upgrading from an older Excursion setup.
