Question:
I see the angled rise on the Reese carrier. Does that make much of a difference? I worry about my driveways incline.

Hi Melissa! Good question.
The angled rise on the shank of the Reese Cargo Carrier # RP87KR absolutely makes a difference. And I'm not just saying that. The biggest impact will be on vehicles that naturally ride a bit lower, such as minivans or standard sedans. If you have one of those (I do!) I wouldn't even think about getting a carrier with a straight shank.
Now for your actual question - will it help with clearing your steep driveway. Of course it depends on exactly how steep your driveway is...but I'm pretty confident in saying yes. The design of this particular carrier will keep the bottom of the rack from scraping the concrete on your driveway or when going over any dips or bumps on your travels. It's exactly why it was made.
Let me know if you have any other questions about the carrier. I've played with it a bit and I quite like it.

Hey Melissa, how did the Reese cargo carrier work out with your driveway incline? It’d be great to hear if the angled rise gave you the clearance you needed. Your update could make it easier for others with steep driveways to decide.
