Hello Tony, thanks for reaching out. I do have a potential option for you, but I am sorry to say that there is no custom fit hitch for the 1978 Lincoln Continental. Most hitch manufacturers just do not produce hitches for vehicles this old. The Curt # C12232 you mentioned is for a 1988 - 1994 Lincoln Continental so there is no guarantee of this fitting a 1978 model since the frame was changed.
The only way to add a 2" hitch to your Continental will be to take a universal hitch like the Curt # 13703 to a fabricator and have them weld up something to fit.

Hey Tony, did you end up trying the universal Curt hitch with a fabricator for your Lincoln Continental? It’d be great to hear if that setup worked out for you. Your update could help others with classic cars looking for a similar solution.
