Can Winch Be Powered With Vehicle 7-Way

Question:
Can I wire a winch on my car hauler trailer to my truck 7 pin connection so as I do not have to keep a battery on the trailer, Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Hi David; the 7-way on your truck isn't able to handle a winch. There is too much of a power demand for that circuit to handle. If you don't want to put a battery on your trailer you can run a separate line from your vehicle battery using the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit - Quick Connect to Terminal End - 2 Gauge - 24' Long # BDW20207. This will set you up with a quick connect at the rear to hook up your winch when you want to use it.
