What Holds Spacer and Timbren Spacer to Chevy Tahoe

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/16/2024

Question:

The TGMRYS4, going in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, does the Spacer pressure fit into the Cup, and is there still a bolt securing? Once in, will it ride on my axel, or will there be a bit of clearance? If there is clearance, is it more than an inch? Thank you for your help.

Hey Sean, the spacer and the Timbren spring of the # TGMRYS4 are held in with a bolt to the cup that holds the old jounce spring. You wouldn't want the axle to ride on the spring all the time as that would cause a pretty harsh ride. Normally right around an inch is ideal clearance between the Timbren and the axle.

Hey Sean, how did the clearance between the Timbren spring and your Tahoe’s axle turn out after the install? It’d be great to know if you ended up with about an inch of space like we mentioned. Your update could make it easier for others setting up the same kit.
